There’s nothing quite like an easy summer read. Something you can and want to breeze through in a few days (or even a few hours) because the characters are the most vibrant versions of themselves, the plot is quick but juicy, and you know there’s going to be some spice tied in with a happy ending.
Although they’re called “Summer Reads” I’m guilty of reading them all year long. Throughout this year, I’ve curated a list of my 3 top Rom-Coms for your next read. I know it’s summer, but these steamy Rom-Com books won’t help you beat the heat.
How to End a Love Story – by Yulin Kuang
Now and again, I come across a book that I just CANNOT put down. How to End a Love Story was that book, she was that girl. When two former acquaintances, who are bound together by a tragic event, find themselves back in each other’s lives, beautiful chaos ensues. This story of star-crossed lovers will run you through the gamut of emotions as the characters try to navigate a way forward. Kuang does an incredible job building up characters that I guarantee you’ll fall in love with and won’t want to let go. Not only that, this book has some of the steamiest love scenes I’ve read in a long time. The build-up of tension between the characters is evident in Kuang’s lustful descriptions of their many physical encounters. Hold on to your horses, this book will take you for a wild ride.

The Graham Effect – by Elle Kennedy
Do I know anything about hockey? Absolutely not. Did I indulge in this book all the same? Absolutely. This enemies-to-lovers romance is as spicy as it is compelling. Although I don’t know a thing about hockey, I found myself glued to this story about two college-aged athletes trying to reach their respective goals. What kept me glued? The fact that our heroin needs the help of the handsome hockey player that’s just as dreamy as he is rude and opinionated. And that he, needs her. As the story goes on, you can feel the palpable tension between the two characters. And when the characters first touch, you can feel the mind-blowing chemistry jump right off the page.

Just for the Summer – by Abby Jimenez
Just for the Summer had me hooked right from the start. When Emma sees Justin’s Reddit thread about breaking his relationship curse, curiosity gets the better of her and she reaches out. How often do you find somebody who has the same curse as you, after all? They’ve both fallen victim to being the last partner before finding “the one.” After sussing out that he’s not a murderer on the internet, Emma and Justin take off on an unexpected whirlwind of trying to break this cure–two cursed people cancel each other out, right? This story is one of taking risks, facing your past, and opening up your hear in order to keep moving forward. The witty banter and swoon-worthy moments are sure to keep you hooked!
